Prestina Ochonogor and Nigerian Athletes Climb Global Rankings

Long jumper, Prestina Ochonogor has seen an improvement in the latest rankings released by the IAAF.
Ochonogor is now ranked 611th globally and fifth in Africa, marking her as Nigeria’s biggest mover in the rankings.
The 18 year-old reached the final at the Paris 2024 Olympics, achieving a personal best of 6.70m.
Quartermiler Esther Elo Joseph has also made significant progress, moving from 3,560th globally to sixth nationally and 618th worldwide.

Tobi Amusan continues to lead the rankings for Nigeria in the women’s category, followed by Favour Ofili and Ese Brume.
In the men’s category, quartermiler Samuel Ogazi and sprinter Kayinsola Ajayi have made notable advancements.

Ogazi, now ranked second in Nigeria and 206th globally, became the first Nigerian since 1988 to reach the Olympic 400m final.

Ajayi has risen to become Nigeria’s top-ranked sprinter, placing 25th worldwide in the 100m event.
