Terence Crawford sets immediate plan to break Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight record
Terence Crawford wants to immediately break a record set by Jake Paul and Mike Tyson’s huge boxing event in Texas.
Paul beat Tyson in a staggering professional ring showdown at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, an event which broke boundaries and shattered a number of long-standing records.

One of those, saw the event attract the biggest ever gate outside of Las Vegas in US history, with 72,600 attendees at the stadium bringing in $18 million, a new record beating Canelo Alvarez’s 2021 win over Billy Joe Saunders which raked in $9 million.
And ‘Bud’, a pound-for-pound star in the sport, wants to fight in front of 90,000 fans at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He tweeted: “I think I can do 90,000 at memorial Stadium.
“I think I will go on and make history just to make some of you all mad because you all be hating.
“What’s up? @UNLincoln, @Huskers.”
The stadium only officially holds 85,000 fans, so it could be a seriously uphill battle for the four-weight world champion.
It would need the capacity to be extended, but 85,000 spectators could well be enough to eclipse the record-breaking gate.
Paul vs Tyson was a unique event and one which captured the imagination of the globe, with 60 million viewers also tuning in on streaming service Netflix.
Crawford would need to somehow match the star power of the pair, and could need to touch gloves with a big name likely needed to come anywhere close.
The American star has yet to secure that huge mega-fight, and Alvarez could represent that.

But there are some significant hurdles that need to be cleared to get the showdown complete, with Crawford likely needing to put on 14lbs to climb to 168lbs.
It would also likely take some mega-money backing to get the event over the line, with the intervention of Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh likely neccessary.
Crawford has failed to light up the pay-per-view market so far in his career in quite the spectacular fashion the stars of the past such as Floyd Mayweather and Tyson have.
He did fight and beat Errol Spence Jr in the biggest of his career last year, which was a 20,000 sell-out at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas
But ‘Iron Mike’, who helped draw huge interest in the clash at the weekend, has previously explained how he feels Crawford needs to be more marketable.
He told tennis star Nick Kyrgios: “You know, this is a funny question because of technology, more people are able to see fighters now than they did when I was fighting.

“When you see these fighters, we made a lot of money when we were fighting for our time. I’m talking about the little guys too; Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns.
“These small guys now they’re not making money like these. These guys are making $15million in the 80s. That’s like, well I don’t know, that’s like $45 million now.
“Look, Terence Crawford in the box, he’s fighting Errol Spence, he’s the best fighter in the world but he can’t draw 5,000 people.
“You have to be entertaining. You have to be exciting. They could beat anybody in the world, but they can’t draw 5,000 tickets.
“You know, that’s because they’re not exciting. The way they make their money, because their opponents are very, like famous.
“But there’s people, I’m sure they’re a talented guy that could beat anybody, but they look like s***. Like watching grass grow, you know.”
