AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: We ‘II Beat Benin, Rwanda – Super Eagles Stars Boast

Super Eagles duo, Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi are optimistic the team will beat Benin Republic and Rwanda in their opening two games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The West Africans will be up against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Saturday, September 7.

The three-time African champions will then face the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali three days later.

Benin Republic defeated the Super Eagles 2-1 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture in June.

Ndidi declared that the Super Eagles will be gunning for revenge against Gernot Rohr’s men.

“We know we haven’t done as well as we wanted in the World Cup qualifiers, but we’re ready to make things right in Uyo,”Ndidi said in a short video posted on the Super Eagles X account.

“They [Benin] had their win in Abidjan, but we’ll see what happens in Uyo. Don’t worry; we’re prepared.”

Iwobi revealed the the team’s desire ahead of the qualifiers.

“There’s still a lot to fight for; we have much to prove. We know the quality we have in this team, and we need to show it consistently for Nigeria, just like we do for our club sides. The fans expect a lot from us, and we expect a lot from ourselves. We’re ready to get the points we need to qualify,”stated the Fulham midfielder.
