Bandits Kill Kebbi District Head As Police Rescue Eight Others
In a tragic turn of events, bandits have killed the abducted District Head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya, in Kebbi State.
The district head was taken along with eight others from the Kanya District in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area on October 6.
The Kebbi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafi’u Abubakar, confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
He stated that, through collaborative efforts by the Police, Military, and local vigilante groups, eight of the abducted victims were successfully rescued from Sakaba forest after an armed confrontation with the kidnappers.
“Acting on credible intelligence and given the determination and resilience of the combined team of Policemen, Military and members of Vigilante, eight victims of the kidnapping incident have successfully been rescued.
“They were rescued unhurt on Tuesday at about 10:00 a.m. at Sakaba forest after a gun duel.
“The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families after medical examination at General Hospital, Sakaba.
“Regrettably, while the search and rescue operation was ongoing, the dead body of the district head of Kanya, Alhaji Isah Daya was found in the forest,” he narrated.
The Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Bello Sani, extended his condolences to the State Government, the Zuru Emirate, and the family of the late district head.
“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and may his gentle soul continue to rest in Jannatul Firdaus,” he quoted the CP as praying.
SP Abubakar appealed to the public to support the security agencies by providing any information that might aid in apprehending those responsible for this heinous act.
