Boniface in Trouble With German Authorities After Reckless Video Surfaces

Bayer Leverkusen and Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has come under fire after a video surfaced of him using his mobile phone while driving at high speed on a German motorway.

The video, initially shared on Instagram by Nigerian rapper Zoro Swagbag, showed Boniface driving his Mercedes-AMG on the A4 motorway while holding his phone.

In the clip, the 23-year-old appeared to be checking Instagram comments and Bayer Leverkusen’s lineup announcement for their Champions League match against Salzburg.

German newspaper Bild reported that Boniface was driving at 141 km/h, surpassing the 120 km/h speed limit. The video, which garnered over 31,500 views before it was deleted, has sparked widespread criticism.

This incident comes just weeks after Boniface was involved in a car crash in Frankfurt, from which he escaped with minor injuries.

In response, Bayer Leverkusen released a statement acknowledging the situation and confirming that they will address the matter internally.

Head coach Xabi Alonso also expressed his disapproval of Boniface’s actions during a pre-match press conference.

“I don’t like it, it’s obviously not good, and of course, it’s not allowed to happen. I haven’t seen Boni, but he knows it’s not allowed. We have to tell him he’s not allowed to do something like this.”
