CAFWCL: Essien Reflects On Edo Queens’ Dramatic Win Over Mamelodi Sundowns

Emem Essien was full of excitement following Edo Queens’ dramatic 2-1 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday night.

Moses Aduku’s side secured a place in the semi-final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League following the hard-earned victory.

Essien and Mary Mamudu scored two late goals to cancel out Melinda Kgadiete’s 24th minute strike for the defending champions.

“I am happy, I am happy, that is all I can say,” the delighted striker said after game.

“We didn’t believe this would happen, but with the spirit of never giving up, we did it.”

Edo Queens will battle TP Mazembe of Congo Democratic Republic in semi-final.
