Chidera Ejuke Shares Super Eagles’ Tough Experience in Libya

Sevilla star Chidera Ejuke has opened up about the challenges faced by the Super Eagles during their trip to Libya for the second leg of the AFCON qualifiers.

The Nigerian national team had a difficult time after their flight was unexpectedly diverted to a different airport far from their original destination.

Ejuke revealed that the team, along with Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officials, were stranded at the airport for 15 hours without access to food or water. Eventually, they were forced to abandon the game and return to Nigeria.

“It was a crazy situation that we did not expect,” Ejuke told Diario de Sevilla. “We couldn’t do anything. We were locked in the airport for about 16 hours. We only had some water and snacks we brought from the flight. It was a bit scary, but we stayed united to keep our spirits up.”

Ejuke, who was recently called up to the national team for the first time in a while, expressed his disappointment at not getting the chance to represent Nigeria properly due to the incident.

Despite the setback, the Sevilla winger remains focused on club duties, as he prepares for the team’s upcoming match against Barcelona this weekend.
