Dallas Wings Win WNBA Draft Lottery With Uconn’s Paige Bueckers as Top Prospect
The WNBA draft lottery unveiled that the Dallas Wings will get the first pick of the 2025 draft. The Wings will likely use their coveted pick to snag UConn guard Paige Bueckers.
Other teams that were in the running to land the highly-touted No. 1 pick were the Los Angeles Sparks and Washington Mystics. The Sparks will get the second pick of the draft.
The Wings, Sparks, and Mystics all fired their coaches following the season. Additionally, the Mystics have a vacant general manager role.
The Chicago Sky, who many believed had a shot at getting the coveted No. 1 pick, lost the opportunity because of a trade with Dallas that allowed the Wings to swap picks with Chicago in this year’s draft.
The Sky will get the third pick of the draft. Additionally, the Las Vegas Aces had their first-round pick rescinded for violating league rules.
