Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has hinted that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru could start in the second leg of the AFCON 2025 qualifier against Libya, this Tuesday.
Dele-Bashiru, played a crucial role in Nigeria’s 1-0 victory at home in Uyo, last Friday.
With the match nearing its end, and the Super Eagles struggling to break the deadlock, Eguavoen introduced Dele-Bashiru in the 74th minute, replacing Alex Iwobi.
The substitution paid off when, in the 86th minute, as the Substitute converted a brilliant pass from Moses Simon to score the match-winner.
During the post-match press conference, Eguavoen was asked whether Dele-Bashiru would feature in the starting lineup for the second leg in Libya.
The coach emphasized that all 23 players in the squad are capable of starting, but final decisions will depend on medical assessments.
“He may start the return leg, but first, we need to see how they react to the physio and medical team,” Eguavoen said.
“Everybody in that team; the 23 are capable of starting.”
The three-time African champions will face Libya on October 15 at the Martyrs of February Stadium.
A win in the return fixture will secure their qualification for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
