Galatasaray plot Victor Osimhen stay beyond current loan duration
Galatasaray Sportif AŞ deputy chairman, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, has revealed that the club is aiming to make Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen’s stay in Istanbul permanent, following his recent season-long loan move from Napoli. Osimhen joined Galatasaray after missing out on a transfer to Chelsea on deadline day in early September.
Despite speculation that clauses in Osimhen’s contract could allow top European clubs to secure him in January, Hatipoğlu has dismissed these reports.
He emphasised that Osimhen is contracted to Galatasaray until June 2025 and that the club is already working on plans to retain the Super Eagles striker beyond the current season.
Speaking to NTVSpor, Hatipoğlu said, “Osimhen’s leaving in January is out of the question. In fact, we are making plans to have Osimhen play next season as well. He is a Galatasaray player until June, and he shows his dedication to the club in every match.”
Hatipoğlu also highlighted Osimhen’s happiness at the club, adding, “A person plays where he is happy. He has a contract with us until the end of the season, and he is very happy to have come to Galatasaray. There is no need to discuss whether he will leave during the break.”
However, acquiring Osimhen on a permanent basis could pose a challenge for Galatasaray, as his Napoli contract includes a reported €75 million release clause.
