How Ben Affleck Finds Support With Matt Damon Amid 2nd Divorce

Ben Affleck appears to be leaning on his best friend in his time of need.

The 52-year-old Oscar winner was seen heading to dinner with longtime pal Matt Damon and his family less than a week after wife Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce.

Affleck kept it casual in a white T-shirt, tan button-down, jeans, and sneakers as he arrived for dinner at Toscana in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 25, per photos obtained by TMZ.

Damon, 53, looked put together in a black collared T-shirt, dark wash jeans, and sneakers, while his wife, Luciana Barroso, 48, sported chic black trousers, a coordinating cropped tank, and two-tone flats.

The pair showed off big smiles as they arrived at the restaurant, likely ready to do their best to cheer up Affleck. The dinner catchup seemed to have done its job as TMZ reported that Affleck was laughing with the valet as he left.

Of course, Affleck has been looking cheerier since the divorce news, and was even spotted smiling as he grabbed a fast food delivery outside his house on Saturday, August 24.

In photos obtained by Page Six, Affleck’s smile was a far cry from his usual “Sad Affleck” face that has since become a popular meme, even inspiring a parody ad with his beloved Dunkin’.

Back in June a source told Entertainment Tonight that Affleck had been “leaning on Matt Damon and his close circle of guy friends” amid relationship woes. “Matt is always in Ben’s corner and is supportive of him,” the source added.

The longtime Hollywood working duo have been friends since growing up together in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They began auditioning together, starred in movies together, and of course, famously co-wrote and co-starred in Good Will Hunting, which won them their first Oscars for best original screenplay.

Lopez filed for divorce in LA County Superior Court on August 20, the second anniversary of her and Affleck’s lavish Georgia wedding. The filing comes after much speculation that the pair were over, especially after they listed their Beverly Hills mansion for sale in July 2024, and Affleck was seen living in his Brentwood, California residence without her.

The two had initially rekindled their ill-fated early 2000s romance in April 2021, after Lopez ended her engagement to Alex Rodriguez. By the following year, they were engaged again, a whopping 20 years after Affleck’s initial proposal.
