Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson undercard has fight change after bout called off one week before Netflix showdown

Fast-rising undefeated prospect Lucas Bahdi has a new opponent on the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson undercard.

The 17-0 Canadian puncher knocked out Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) prodigy Ashton ‘H20’ Sylve on the Paul vs Mike Perry undercard in July and was due to return to action against Corey Marksman on November 15.

However, the 24-year-old has pulled out of the fight with an injury.

Marksman, an untested 10-0-1 boxer from Florida, has been replaced by undefeated Italian super lightweight champion Armando Casamonica (14-0), in what looks to be, at least on paper, an upgrade.

The rest of the bill remains unchanged with fight night just over one week away.

Bahdi will be relieved that MVP was able to find him a new opponent so quickly.

Tyson vs Paul is shaping up to be one of the most-viewed fights of the 21st century and is an excellent platform for talented up-and-comers like himself.

The full card is being broadcast live and free on Netflix for existing subscribers and will be the streaming giant’s first live sporting event.

Netflix have over 282.7million paid subscribers as of the first quarter of 2024 with that number expected to increase as the fight creeps closer.

All of those eyes bring shed loads of cash, which Tyson and Paul are expected to take a lion’s share of.

The estimated fight purse for the main event is $80m, split evenly between both men.

But they are likely to earn more through endorsements and bonuses.

The money is a nice incentive but that’s not the primary motivation for a 58-year-old Tyson to return to the ring.

At least, that’s what he told talkSPORT last week, as he said: “The sky is the limit. That is mostly why I do these things because I want to be the biggest fighter in the history of fighting.

“That is my goal in life, that is what drives me. I want to be the biggest fighter in the history of life.

“That drives me more than money, to be the biggest fighter since the beginning of life, that lasts an eternity.”

The fight has been met with backlash from several members of the boxing fraternity.

While Tyson is two years away from getting a free bus pass, Paul is in his physical prime at 27 and unlike his opponent, he has been actively competing in pro boxing for the last five years.

Most feel the result is a foregone conclusion but that won’t stop millions from tuning in for the fight.
