Kano govt donates ₦100 million to Jigawa fire victims
The Kano State Government has donated ₦100 million to assist victims of the recent fire disaster in Majia, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the donation during a condolence visit to his Jigawa counterpart, Governor Umar Namadi, at the Government House in Dutse.
In a statement released by Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor emphasized that the funds are intended to provide relief to the families of those who lost their lives and to support the treatment of those injured in the fire.
He highlighted the strong historical and cultural ties between Kano and Jigawa States, reaffirming Kano’s solidarity with Jigawa during this time of grief.
Governor Yusuf extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and those recovering from injuries, offering prayers for divine intervention to prevent future tragedies of this nature.
In response, Governor Namadi expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the people of Jigawa State, thanking Kano for its generous support during this difficult time. He assured that the funds would be judiciously used to aid the victims and their families.
Governor Namadi also disclosed that, as of Thursday evening, 167 lives had been lost, and 67 individuals were receiving treatment at various medical facilities within and outside the state.
