Madrid Set Unwanted UCL Record In Defeat To Liverpool

Real Madrid created an unwanted record after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night.

An action-packed second half featured goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo which earned the Reds a 2+0 win.

It aso included missed penalties by Kylian Mbappe – whose effort was saved by Caoimhin Kelleher while Mohamed Salah also missed.

The defeat means Madrid have lost three games in a single group stage/league phase for the first time ever in the Champions League.

Also, Liverpool have beaten Madrid in the Champions League for the first time since 2009 under Rafael Benitez.

It ended an eight game winless run vs the Spanish La Liga and UEFA Champions League holders.

The Reds produced yet another performance of class and authority to deservedly defeat the holders and reel off a fifth consecutive victory in the competition’s league phase.

Arne Slot’s men will hope to take their current form into this weekend’s Premier League clash with struggling Manchester City who are winless in their last six games.
