NASCAR Xfinity: JR Motorsports Appeal Of Sam Mayer Disqualification Hearing Date Revealed
FOX Sports NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass has revealed JR Motorsports’s appeal hearing date for the disqualification of their driver, Sam Mayer, from the NASCAR Xfinity race at Talladega Superspeedway.
The hearing is scheduled to take place this Wednesday, following the disqualification of Mayer’s No. 1 Chevrolet for failing to meet post-race inspection height requirements. Originally finishing 16th, Mayer was relegated to 38th place due to the infraction, significantly impacting his standing in the championship rankings.
Pockrass shared to social media:
“The JRM appeal to the Sam Mayer DQ for being too low on rear heights will be heard tomorrow (Wednesday).”
The race in question, the Xfinity Series Round of 12, occurred at the famed Talladega Superspeedway and was a crucial event in the NASCAR calendar. Mayer’s disqualification has jeopardized his advancement chances as the series narrows down from 12 to 8 competitors.
The team shared to social media yesterday:
“JR Motorsports will appeal the disqualification of Sam Mayer and the No.1 team following last weekend’s event at Talladega Superspeedway.”
This comes ahead of Mayer’s move to the Haas Factory Team for the 2025, which was announced earlier this year. Commenting on his upcoming move, as previously reported by Newsweek Sports, Mayer explained:
“It’s really important to continue development for me as a race car driver and Haas Factory is providing that for me on and off the racetrack. I think that they’re going to do a really good job of setting the table for me to go out and perform and dominate.”
Joe Custer, Haas Factory Team president also commented on Mayer’s joining as well as Sheldon Creed:
“It’s a big day for Haas Factory Team. For these two fellas to believe in our program enough, it says a lot. We plan on dominating next year. If we don’t, I’ll be responsible for that because we certainly have the drivers that can get it done.”
