No problem deputizing Peter Obi, ready for talks – Kwankwaso
Rabiu Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of the NNPP in the 2023 elections, has suggested the idea of potentially serving as the deputy to Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
In a video circulating on a popular microblogging platform, Kwankwaso, speaking in Hausa, expressed his willingness to be Obi’s deputy under certain conditions.
He stated that despite viewing himself as being politically superior to Obi, he is open to discussions and negotiations for the upcoming 2027 elections.
He said, “I’m bigger than Peter Obi politically, I’m his elder brother, I’m a PhD holder, I performed better than him when I was a governor of my state. I’ve no problem with deputizing Peter Obi, but only if certain conditions are met.
“We are willing to engage in discussions, provided that trust is established”.
In the 2023 elections, Peter Obi secured the most votes in 11 states and the FCT, while Kwankwaso won in 38 of Kano State’s 44 local government areas.
