Ossy Martins Brace Ease Pressure Off Amokachi As Lobi Stars Dislodge Bayelsa United
Lobi Stars recorded their first win under the guidance of Daniel Amokachi courtesy of Ossy Martins whose two goals ensured that Lobi Stars defeated Bayelsa United 2-1 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL ) match played on Monday at the Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa.
The former Nigeria international was appointed in Week 5 to replace Eugene Agagbe after the latter could only win once out of the five matches played under his watch.
However, Daniel Amokachi has failed to steady the ship as the team sunk further on the table with two draws and a lose, in his first three games which piled loads of pressure on the coach.
Daniel Amokachi needed a victory going into Monday’s game against Ladan Bosso’s Bayelsa United as both teams are deep in relegation waters.
Expectations were rife as only a victory for the Alias boys will ease pressure off Daniel Amokachi’s shoulder
Two strikes from reliable Ossy Martins in the 22nd and 57th minute of the nervy contest ensured Amokachi picked his first victory and Lobi Stars second of the season after Yahaya Ibrahim got
Bayelsa United only goal in the 30th minute. Penalty spot.
The result lifted the team from the bottom of the log to number 17 with nine points same as Bayelsa in number 18.
Daniel Amokachi can now ease a sigh of relief after turbulent four weeks in the league for the coach as the struggle to retain the Premier League status of the team continues.
