Riccardo Calafiori Returns to London After Injury Against France, Ruled Out of Italy’s Next Game
Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has returned to London following an injury suffered during Italy’s 3-1 victory against France.
The Gunners’ new addition injured his ankle during Friday’s UEFA Nations League match.
The injury occurred when France’s Ousmane Dembélé landed on Calafiori’s ankle following a tackle.
Calafiori’s substitution was caused by medical staff rushing onto the field in response to teammates’ immediate concerns.
Despite initial hopes from Italy manager Lucas Spaletti, who said, “We need to assess Riccardo, but with our staff, we’ve a good chance to have him back,” Calafiori has now left the Italy camp for further evaluation by Arsenal’s medical team.
The extent of the injury will be assessed in London, with no clear timeline yet for his return.
