Royal Estate chairman, residents apologise to LASBCA over misleading publication

The Chairman of Royal Estate along LASU-Igando Road in Alimosho Local Government, Isheri-Olofin, Lagos, Mr. Williams Adeyemi, along with the estate’s residents, has issued a sincere and unreserved apology to the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and its Mosan Okunola District Head, Arc. Sayo Omisore. This follows a ‘’misleading statement” published in *The Punch* newspaper on Friday, July 26th, 2024, on page 11, under the headline, “Residents Allege Brutalisation as Lagos Intensifies Building Control.”  https://punchng.com/residents-allege-brutalisation-as-lagos-intensifies-building-control/?amp

On behalf of the residents, the Chairman expressed that the apology was necessary to clarify their position, correct any misunderstandings, and convey their deep regret for any distress and reputational harm the publication may have caused to Arc. Sayo Omisore and LASBCA.

“The statements made in the publication do not represent the collective views or intentions of the residents of Royal Estate. I acknowledge that the claims were not only factually inaccurate but also conveyed sentiments that were neither fair nor just to the individuals and institutions involved,” he said.

“It is essential to state unequivocally that the Royal Estate community holds LASBCA in high regard. The agency’s mandate to enforce building regulations and ensure the safety and structural integrity of properties across Lagos State is both necessary and commendable.

We recognize the challenges LASBCA faces in performing its duties and the crucial role it plays in safeguarding the lives and properties of residents. The work that LASBCA does is invaluable, and as responsible residents, we are committed to supporting their efforts in any way we can,” he added.
