Rúben Amorim Leads First Manchester United Training Session

Rúben Amorim has taken charge of his first training session as Manchester United’s head coach, following the approval of his visa, according to reports.

The 39-year-old coach led the session at Carrington on Monday, ahead of his debut match against Ipswich Town at Portman Road this Sunday.

United’s non-international players, including Marcus Rashford and Casemiro, returned to training after a brief break following their 3-0 win over Leicester City. The rest of the squad is set to report back on Wednesday or Thursday.

Players recovering from injuries, including Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, and Leny Yoro, had already met Amorim and his staff last week.

A source confirmed that Amorim and most of his backroom team received their work permits last week, allowing the coach to begin his role officially. Amorim arrived in Manchester a week ago and has since been holding meetings at Carrington.

He was given a tour of Old Trafford on Thursday before sitting down for his first interview with the club.

Amorim is set to hold his first press conference later this week, likely on Thursday or Friday, ahead of the team’s travel to Ipswich on Saturday.

His reign begins with a packed schedule, as United plays nine matches before Christmas.

“When Manchester United talked to me, they told me about their plans and you get excited,” Amorim said.

“It’s a real honor because I was the first choice to start that path. So it’s a great responsibility. But you feel honored and excited to be part of that.”
