Samuel Chukwueze: AC Milan Boss Fonseca Surprises With UCL Line-up vs Club Brugge
21
In spite of his Man of the Match performance over the weekend against Udinese, Samuel Chukwueze will start on the bench in AC Milan’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Club Brugge on Tuesday.
Milan manager Paulo Fonseca announced his starting lineup on Monday, but omitted Chukwueze.
The Nigerian had put in a stellar performance in Milan’s 1-0 victory over Udinese in Serie A over the weekend, scoring the match winning goal and earning the game’s MVP award.
There had been hopes that Chukwueze’s strong showing would secure him a spot in the Champions League lineup, but Fonseca has instead decided to bring back Portuguese forward, Rafael Leao.
Leao, along with Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham, were rested for the Udinese match.
Both Leao and Tomori return to the lineup for the Brugge game, while Abraham misses out due to a shoulder injury.
Milan’s starting lineup for the Champions League clash includes:
Mike Maignan, Emerson, Gabbia, Tomori, Theo Hernández; Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Rafael Leao, Christian Pulisic, and Álvaro Morata.
