Super Falcons squad for Algeria test released

Super Falcons of Nigeria are set to return to action with 25 players for two international friendly matches against Algeria, but will be without key stars.

The nine-time African champions will play the Algerians at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Lagos Island, with matches scheduled for Saturday, October 26 and Tuesday, October 29. This will mark the Falcons’ first home games since the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament three years ago.

Head coach Justine Madugu has invited 23 players for the friendlies, including experienced goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie from Paris FC and team captain Rasheedat Ajibade of Atletico Madrid.

While several notable players are in good form—such as Gift Monday of Costa Tenerife and Oluwatosin Demehin from Galatasaray—Bay FC striker Asisat Oshoala and Al-Ittihad defender Ashleigh Plumptre, who recently returned from surgery, will miss the games.

The roster also features a mix of domestic-based professionals and a few Falconets players who represented Nigeria at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia last month.

This will be the Super Falcons’ first match since participating in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France earlier this year. It also comes after the departure of former head coach Randy Waldrum, who recently praised the team’s potential and expressed his love for the squad.
