SUPREMACY CUP 2024: Czech Republic Players’ Agent Testifies – “Nigeria Has Huge Potential For Future Football Success”
A players’ agent from Czech Republic, Daniel Smejkal has posited that Nigeria has a huge potential to be globally successful in the future of football through its array of budding talents.

Smejkal declared as much during an exclusive interview with sports247.ng at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos Island, where he watched four days of action in Lagos Supremacy Cup 2024.
He buttressed his proposition on the strength of the talents he witnessed during this year’s competition among 10 top clubs renowned for grooming young players.
While praising Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) chairman, Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed for putting together what has been described as Nigeria’s best ‘football scouting competition’ in recent time, Smejkal hinted that some of the best discoveries will soon sign contracts in Czech Republic.
Smejkal declared, “I work with Hajji Gafar to get talented players.
“That’s why I am here. I want to find somebody who’s very good.
“Here in Nigeria, there’s a huge potential for the future of football, especially with young players.
“That’s why I am here to recognise them and invite them, for example, to Czech Reoublic, to some clubs, especially Slavia Prague.”
He, however, pointed out that the process of transferring young players from Nigeria to European countries is not always smooth, mostly due to visa issues.
“For many people like me, travelling to Nigeria to find some talented players, it’s not easy.
“It’s not easy, except in a tournament like this, where I can see them show their skills.
“That’s a better way for me to see very good potential players and plan with them for the future,” Smejkal explained.
He, however, kept mum on the best Nigerian footballer he would use as an example of the type of talent he always watches out for.
The very jocular and smooth talking players’ agents also refused to disclose how many lads he spotted at the vastly popular competition that ended on Saturday.
“I will keep it secret about my favourite Nigerian player. I do organise visa issues for some of them, and I present Nigerian players to various clubs.
“I will do the same for some of these ones. I can’t say how many, but I hope they will invite them soon … in my opinion, by January or February,” Smejkal projected.
