They wanted to put me in a box
Romelu Lukaku has spoken openly about his challenges in England, particularly the comparisons made between him and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
He mentioned that because of his physical build, many people assumed he would play similarly to Drogba, who was known for his ability to hold up the ball and play with his back to goal.
However, Lukaku clarified that this style did not align with his own strengths as a player. He emphasized that he is more versatile and prefers playing in different positions and styles, rather than being boxed into the role of a traditional target man.
“In England, they wanted to put me in a box. They see someone built like me and think: new Drogba”. “I’m not like that. Didier was more back to goal, he could hold up the ball no matter where you play it in from. That wasn’t my style”,
