TikTok removes 2.1 million videos in Nigeria for violating guidelines

According to TikTok’s latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, over 2.1 million videos were removed in Nigeria during the second quarter of 2024 for violating the platform’s rules.

This accounted for less than 1% of all uploads in the country during that time.

TikTok emphasized its proactive approach to content moderation, with the majority of removed videos being taken down before users even reported them.

The company also highlighted its commitment to creating a safer environment for Nigerian users through continued investment in advanced technologies for better moderation and risk mitigation.

Globally, TikTok removed a total of 178 million videos in June 2024, with the majority being flagged by automated systems.

The platform’s impressive 98.2% proactive detection rate demonstrates its effectiveness in addressing harmful content before users are exposed to it.
