Tough Luck As Nigerian Couples Fails To Progress In Para Table Tennis On Tuesday

It was a tough day for the Nigeria couple who made history as the first ever couple to represent Nigeria at the Paralympics as Christiana Alabi and Kayode Alabi crashed out of their various events, Sports247 reports.

Christiana Alabi was eliminated on Tuesday , (3 September 2024) morning by Chile’s Tamara Leonelli 11-8, 11-5, 10-12, 12-10 to crash out of the Singles Class 5 in the round of 16.

While his husband, Kayode Alabi lost his bid to get into the medal zone as he lost out in the Quarter Finals of the Men’s Singles Class 6 losing in 3 straight sets to the superior fire power of Thailand’s Rungroi Thainiyom 7-11, 1-11, 6-11.

The Hattrick of defeat for the Nigeria Para Table Tennis team was completed on Tuesday as Wali Adesope Abiola also lost in the round of 16 of the Men’s Singles Class 9 to French Lucas Didier by 3-0, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6 in men’s to end the day’s activities for Nigeria at the Paralympics.

Nigeria is yet to add to the bronze medal won by Mariam Bolaji Eniola in the Women’s Singles Badminton SL3 event.
