VeryDarkMan enters police fresh trouble
The Nigeria Police Force on Saturday condemned the unauthorized use of its official uniforms and accoutrements by popular social media critic, Martins Otse, popularly known as “VDM.”
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that Verydarkman, earlier today caused a buzz on social media with a new video in which he introduced himself as the Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) online division.
VDM who was spotted in an outfit similar to the Nigerian Police uniform, warned people against referring to him as an activist.
Addressing himself as CSP, the social media sensation disclosed that he is dedicated to sanitising the social media space, speaking against injustice in the country and coming for online vendors.
Reacting to the video, the force via social media disassociates itself from the unauthorized portrayal of its outfit, adding that it has launched a full investigation to determine the source of the Police gear used, as well as the authority under which he acted.
The statement added, “It is important to remind the public that the unauthorized use of Police uniforms, insignia, or accoutrements constitutes a criminal offense, as stipulated in Section 251 of the Criminal Code Law and Section 133 of the Penal Code Law, and is subject to strict penalties.
“While the Nigeria Police Force recognizes and supports the creativity of young Nigerians in the content creation space, we strongly caution against the misuse of Police uniforms or symbols. Unauthorized use of these items undermines the values and integrity of the Force and will not be tolerated.”
