Merino Will Make Our Squad Stronger –Arsenal Boss, Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said new signing Mikel Merino Will make his squad stronger.

Merino was unveiled on Tuesday as a new Arsenal player after joining the Gunners from Real Sociedad.

The Euro 2024 winner signed a four-year deal that will run till 2028.

It is a return to the Premier League for the 28-year-old who previously joined Newcastle United on loan from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.

“Mikel is a player who will bring us huge quality with his experience and versatility,” Arteta said after Merino’s unveiling. “He has played at the top of the game at both club and international level for a number of seasons now. Mikel will make our squad significantly stronger, with his technical ability, together with his strong and positive character and personality.

“As we all saw in the summer, Mikel is also a winner, with his strong performances throughout the Euros helping Spain win the tournament. We are delighted to welcome Mikel and his family to the club and can’t wait to start working with him.”

Merino is Arsenal’s third summer signing following the acquisition of fellow Spaniard David Raya and Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori.
